A couple recent projects

I recently offered to teach a beginning quilt class to a group of women at my church, and I thought maybe 3 or 4 people would sign up. Boy was I surprised when I got a list with thirteen names on it! Realizing that the project would need to be a simple one so the beginners wouldn't get frustrated, I chose to make a Buggy Barn Star quilt. The Buggy Barn ladies use a unique method of piecing that makes precise cutting and sewing optional - with great results! I decided to make a gift of the quilt to my sister-in-law.

Then I decided to make a coordinating hooked rug to go with it. The theme was different, but I used the same color palette. The design was adapted from a free pattern published in a recent issue of Create & Decorate magazine. The purple background was a lot of fun to work with because it's not a color that I use very often in my rugs. I dyed all the wool for this project also, which was a lot of fun.

The little quilt on my blog is not framed. You can just click on the picture and see it up close. Have a good day!
