4th of July Memories
Thought I'd share one of my favorite 4th of July memories. Several years ago, hubby had to attend a work conference in Maryland. When he was done, the rest of the family flew out to meet up with him and we were able to explore Gettysburg & Washington D.C. together. We spent the 4th of July on the National Mall. As evening fell, we gathered with about one million other people sitting on the grass waiting for the fireworks to start. We were listening to music being pumped out of the speakers that were set up everywhere. Suddenly, when the opening strains to "The Star Spangled Banner" started playing, the entire crowd immediately stood up and put their hands over their hearts. As we listened to the music, I was covered with goose bumps, and had tears running down my face. I'll never forget it - what a special experience it was! Another highlight of the evening was the fact that we got to see fireflies for the first time ever - I'm sure the locals were laughing at us as we exclaimed over them, but oh well! LOL

Happy 4th Gayle.
What a great experience.
(again...I'm so happy you are blogging now).
What a wonderful memory! My daughter and son-in=law will be watching the fireworks in DC tonight. Oh how I wish I could be there to see it with them and have an incredible experience like yours!
Happy 4th to you and yours!
Gayle - I envy you the experience of being on the Mall for the 4th of July. I'm sure my reaction would have been the same! Happy Fourth of July, Gayle. We have tons of fireflys here in the Midwest, and I just assumed everyone had them! Love your blog. I'm going to join your followers, and look forward to seeing all your projects. I'm so glad you are blogging! Linda/The Wool Cupboard
I followed you from Brenda's Bed of Roses blog...we used to live in Alexandria, Va...and I was raised near Gettysburg...but there is nothing like fireworks on the Mall...NYC is glitzy, but DC just epitomizes red, white, and blue!!!

Well it's about time you got your own blog! Love it. May I add you to my favorites? Have you already taught that quilt class? I would love to take a class from you. You're the best. Love the little rugs you're making for your stairs. Hope you had a great 4th. Mimi
Sorry I missed it. I'll get to the eastern half of this country some day...
