Last week I finally just sewed the openings closed and made them into tiny little pillows. I grabbed an old tool box and gathered all my other little hooked pieces to display together inside of it - hence my new header picture.
I pulled out another UFO the other day that has been hanging around for probably ten years - a quilt block named Robbing Peter to Pay Paul. This had been my on-the-go hand applique project and once the 8" blocks were all made they just sat in a bag because I couldn't decide how to sew them together.
Here are the two different blocks - - -
- - - and the borders.
I finally figured out a good way to set them when I saw this beautiful quilt that Barbara had shared on her blog My Joyful Journey. Her's is scrappy - which I totally love - and putting the blocks on point with a different color for the side setting blocks really grabbed me.
Sure feels good to have this quilt top finished and ready to be quilted.

Nothing better than a finished UFO! Beautiful.
Love your hearts and your new header. Your finished top is gorgeous,
Oh I love those! Your header is awesome and your quilt is beautiful! Finishing...what a concept! XO
I love the hearts. You say "hooked" is that like needle punch? I'm not sure I know what any of that is, but I love the look of it!
Your new header is really nice, with all your little projects.
There is a cool circular theme going on in this post--the first little heart you made, the candle on display beside the toolbox (love the candle and the toolbox display!), and the pattern on the quilt!
You pull the prim look together so well, Gayle.
(What kind of vintage spool could you not find?)
Beautiful little quilt and how cute is your box filled with little rugs and quilts.
Love your little pillows! Very sweet. Your Robbing Peter to Pay Paul quilt is wonderful! I made one years ago--lots of work involved with that one.:)
Gayle, it looks great--terrific way to set those blocks. Funny--since that photo was taken I added a dark green border to mine too!
The new header looks great, Gayle! Your quilts are always beautiful. Wow, you get a lot done!!
Hugs, Linda
Your new header is a fantastic display. I loved the title of your post. It took me a minute to get the robbery part. Too funny. That's a difficult block and your top is very well done. I like the look of the blocks being set on point. Yeah!
Wow, everything is so gorgeous! I want to do a Robbing Peter to Pay Paul quilt some day ... So many quilts, so little time. ;-)
Wonderful hooked hearts and they are nice as pillows; that is how I did mine. Such lovely quilts. I love them, admire the delicate work and designs but don't have the patience. On the quilts I've made the back and batting never worked out to fit the same so became frustrated. Think I'm better suited as a rug hooker.

Oh! So cute! Love those little pillows and how you've displayed them! I miss having spaces to display things like that. Somehow it doesn't work in this home. Also love your little quilt! Very pretty! Doesn't it feel good to finish something!
I love your new display. I can't wait to see how you quilt your little top. Hugs
