I've been fighting a crummy cold my hubby shared with me - luckily I don't have it as bad as he did, but I haven't been doing a whole lot of stitching or hooking. I did get a couple more stars made - these are both made from the same piece of fabric and I think they're my favorite ones so far.
This is what the fabric looked like before I started cutting the diamonds...
And this morning I was able to make five blocks for Lori's quilt along. Looking forward to working more on this little quilt. I really liked her color combo of blue, brown & tan so I'm using the same palette which is kind of unusual for me - I normally like to change things up and make my own version.
Yesterday we woke up with no heat in the house so that wasn't a fun experience. The temperature kept dropping as the day went on - service guys arrived just after noon and had things fixed about 3:00 - the house was warmed up by 5:00. Thankfully the furnace was still under warranty so we didn't have to pay anything. It's amazing how exhausting it is to try and stay warm - all I did was read a book all day and I slept like a baby last night cuz I was so tired.

Your stars are beautiful, Gayle! And all done without mirrors - lol! I am really tempted to do lori's sew along, but ... the usual excuses.
I hope you feel better soon!
Your fussy cut stars are fantastic, clever that they are from the same fabric! Glad the heating was fixed for free and on the same day. The little blocks are cute, how many are you going to make?
Love your blocks for the quilt a long. Great colors. Furnace trouble are not for the faint of heart... Life and death in sub zero weather. Not to mention the heartbreak of possible frozen pipes... Glad you all lived happily ever after.
Glad to hear your heat wasn't off forever. It really is exhausting and stressful when that happens. Take care!
Those are two incredible stars, Gayle! Great job on the fussy cutting and assembly! Being under the weather is a great excuse for some hand stitching--if you even feel up to it.
And the heat off, too? Do things come in threes at your house? Can we count that DH had a cold, too? : )
Forgot to say, I love Lori's color combo, too, and if I ever get to make this one I think I will follow suit. Your blocks look good!
Glad the furnace problem was resolved tout de suite and with no charge!
Keep warm, my friend.
Hugs :)

Your stars stunning and inspirational. I'm ready to do some fussy cut piecing. Glad your furnace was quickly repaired. Hope the temporary lack of heat doesn't prolong your colds.
It's amazing how different the two stars look, even though they came from the same fabric... nice job!!!
Love your blue and brown Midwinter Blues... Lori has the best design for all of us to experiment with!
Bbbrrrr......isn't it terrible having to do it without heating? We had the same problem a few times this year but luckily I have a wood burner in the living room.
Your blocks look amazing, love the fabric you used for it!
Hope you both will feel better soon.
Love those fussy cut stars!
Wow,they turned out very nice and thanks for showing us the original fabric.

Hope you are feeling better! And no heat? YIKES! Too cold for that. LOVE, LOVE your stars - amazing what a little fussy cutting can do!
Wonderful use of an interesting fabric. Hope you feel bettering.
Thanks for your affirming comment on my Childhood Memories rug Gayle. I really appreciate it.
I'm sorry about your cold and also the furnace breakdown during this cold spell but I'm glad that it was fixed right away and still on warranty. They don't seem to make things that last long anymore.
I love how you made those stars, very creative.
Keep up the good work.
Hugs,
JB
Glad you got the furnace fixed quickly! Middle of winter with a cold is NOT a good time!
Your stars are so pretty and I love your midwinter blues so far. Beautiful work!!
