RED

This morning I finished up the quilt top that I started in Pam Buda's class on Friday - it's a nice manageable size and I'm still loving the colors I chose.  Not sure if I have the right fabric for the backing yet so I need to comb through my stash and see what I can find. Hope to get this quilted and bound quickly so I can hang it up and enjoy it. About 43" square.

Months ago I saw some mini design boards that Lori Holt shared on her blog - she even has a how-to video available to watch - and I decided that I needed to make some for myself. Then, JoAnne recently shared the ones that she had made and it reminded me that I wanted my own. SO - over the weekend I finally bought the supplies I needed and made up a few.

I ended up with six that measure 15" square, and six that measure 10" square - plus I have six 5" squares leftover but I'm not sure that size would be very useful. I made the first six with a fabric binding like Lori shows, but I found it really tedious - and I burned my fingers many times with that danged hot glue gun. Finally went and bought some duck tape and finished the rest with that method. It was faster, but not as cute - it'll do. There are a LOT of crazy bright colors of duck tape available, but nothing in muted prim colors - the red was the best I could find.

Love your quilt. I also made one of the 15" design boards. However I made mine just out of fabric and batting. when not in use I just fold it up or stick it to my design wall. Hugs

LOVE the duct tape idea! I haven't made any because of the hassle. Yours look great! Thanks for sharing! Cheery wave from Bev

Love your swirly fabrics in RED. (I'm combining comments on the last two posts here!) And I see that you are still hooked on paper pieces with those fussy cutting diamonds! Those mini design boards are such a great idea... looks like a good weekend project... will need something like that for what I am just beginning to work on... thanks in part to you! (tee=hee!)

Your quilt looks great. Glad you were able to keep sewing on it once you got home. Too many class projects turn into UFO's.
