You can see some of the other color combos that the group made here on our blog. It is so fun to see the versions that people created.
Yesterday was our annual outdoor meeting at Kay's house for rug group. I didn't snap as many photos as I thought I did, but I do have a few to share. Tonia has finished hooking her Three Billy Goat's Gruff rug and was crocheting the edge while we were there. Her next project is all drawn on linen - it will be Little Red Riding Hood. Fun rugs!
Sandy finished her fall rug and was also crocheting the edge on it. Love those colors. (sorry the picture is crooked)
Angela has been having a love affair with vintage sewing machines for a few years now - I think I heard her say once that she owns about 35 different ones. She has recently begun buying old damaged Featherweights when she finds them. Then her hubby repairs them so they run like new and gives them a fresh coat of paint in the most wonderful colors you can imagine. This is the first one that they've finished and it's totally awesome! She has started a blog to document her journey.
Last year when I made strawberry jam, I added the ingredients in the wrong order and it never set up properly - turned out more like syrup than jam. So a few days ago I dumped it all out and made two fresh batches that are perfect. Now it's getting eaten almost daily on toast and peanut butter sandwiches!
I recently finished reading the very last book that Maeve Binchy wrote before she died in July. She's been one of my favorite authors for a long time, and I really tried to savor each page and take my time with this one, but as usual, I gobbled it up because I enjoyed it so much.
And finally I wanted to share a pet peeve. I often used to use my 40% off coupons at Jo-Ann Fabrics to buy magazines cuz they're SO expensive these days. Then they started have them on 'sale' for 10% off so the coupon wouldn't work. Now I've discovered that their coupons state that they cannot ever be used to purchase magazines - what's with that? ARGH!

Gayle, that bag is SO cute!!
What a snazzy featherweight! Do you own one? I keep thinking I'd love to have one to take to classes so I wouldn't have to lug a heavy machine, but I'm never in the right place at the right time, with the right amount of money--and that is probably the biggest factor!
I don't think I've ever read Maeve Binchy. I'll have to give her a try.
Do you recall that once upon a time you used to be able to use a JoAnn coupon even if the item was on sale. They would just calculate the coupon discount from the original price. Oh, for the good ole' days! : )
Your rug bag is the bomb Gayle. It looks very beautiful. Can you imagine how much you would have to pay to buy one of those!
Wow, it's hard to believe the trnsformation on that vintage sewing machine. It looks brand new. No wonder they are keeping it.
I've never read Maeve Binchy either but I've read about her. She will be missed by her readers for sure.
About the coupons, that's too bad. Maybe everyone else were using it towars magazines and ther are catching on. You are right. Magazines price is out of this world and even pricier here in Canada.

So many wonderful things on our post today. Your bag is awesome. A bag can be as much work as a quilt! Great job. I always love the rug from your group...the 3 Billy goats is totally sweet.
Oh, your bag is super cute. That would be one I'd be proud to use! JoAnne's tries to make it very difficult to use the 40% off coupons all the while making it look like they have the 'very best' deals around.:)
Love your bag - how cool! Just love your whole post - such talented hookers - I always enjoy seeing what they are up to.
I did not know that Maeve Binchy passed away, that is too bad. I love her books - haven't read that one though, may have to download it to my Kindle.
Thanks for showing us both sides of your cute bag... cute doesn't do it justice... it's marvelous! Love the color of that "new" Featherweight!
Loving your great bag and your choice of fabric.
Hi Gayle...This was an amazing post...like sitting down with a good friend. Lots to see and read.
I also have had runny strawberry or raspberry "jam". When this happens, we use it over ice cream as a topping. (It is "to die for" good.)
I laughed when I read of the magazine situation...I buy mine the same way and just recently learned that A.C.Moore is doing the same thing. No more coupons applied to magazines. :0
Thanks for the book - I am always looking for a good read...maybe a "beach trip read". ;)

Beautiful things made again hooking. I love your little cute bag. And that featherweight! Wouldn't we all like to have one like that? They are so hard to find over here! Maybe one day I will buy one in the US :)
Very cute little bag. I have hooked one purse and keep saying I want to try another.
Whenever we end up with runny jam we save it for ice cream toppings :)
Thanks for the book suggestion...I need a good summer read.
Love the bag...how clever.
Love love love the bag!
Gayle, what a wonderful hooked and proddy bag!!!!! I have a Featherweight which is in good usable shape and have carried it with me to doll classes. When there was a feeding frenzy on buying them I paid $500 for mine. Wonder what they go for now?
OH! Not being able to use the coupon for magazines makes me angry also; Michael's coupons say the same thing.
Saundra
Thanks so much for visiting my blog and getting me back here to yours. Love the bag. Love love the sewing machine refurb. Loved the book. And love jam. So what else can I say. Oh yes, I have yet to meet a single soul who doesn't LOVE being a grand. xo

Gayle, I LOVE your bag...what fun!! I've always wanted to hook one and yours is great!
I'm ready to move to your town...your hooking group's fabulous! I've only ever seen a couple of Featherweight machines around here and they were very pricey...absolutely loved the painted one!
Great post...great pictures...Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Linda
Your bag is so sweet! Loving the restored feather weights, so nice that someone is ensuring they still have a future and a home. The rugs per usual are fabulous, you have talented friends.
I share your pet peeve! Michaels put the magazine restriction on their coupons a few years ago which also annoyed me!
that bag is so darling! I love it. great rugs from your group. The jam looks yummy.
Maeve Binchy is my all time favorite author I have read them all except this last one.
I am headed to the library Saturday to see if I can get it.
Cathy
Cute Bag, Gayle! Really fun post. And I am with you on the coupon from JoAnn's! I keep telling myself I need to make time to hook.....
Love your bag. Enjoyed your post!
