Wouldn't it be fun to buy a sturdy chair from the local thrift store and do this to it? Maybe have several of them surrounding a dining room table!
You could personalize them to match the individual who sits there - if wild & crazy fits them, then so be it!
You can bet that if I'm ever in Canada, that I will be checking out this great store called Moose River Rug Hooking Studio!
You can see the workshop pictures of the chairs being painted here.

So cute. I will have to put this studio on my list to visit this year. It's about 4 1/2 hrs drive but looks like it might be worth it.
Gayle, they are the neatest chairs and Moose River is the neatest and most friendly rug hooking shop that I know of. All the chairs in the studio are painted this way and each has it's own matching chair pad. I must take more photos.
The staff is knowledgeable and more than willing to take the time to help even us newbie hookers. Coffee and tea are just a kettle away as well.
It is well worth a visit and while you're in the area, please stop by...I'm only a stone's throw away!
These chairs are sooooo very cute!!!
Oh Gayle....thanks so much for posting this as it is soooo inspiring !

Very cool idea. I think I have a couple of chairs in my basement that are good candidates for this!
They're adorable. They'd look good with your new kitchen...Mimi
Gayle, those chairs are really fun! They would add some cheer to any room!
Great chairs - wish we had great shops like that down my way. I'm catching up on blog reading and I love your kitchen remodel - great job and the start on your the footstool is so cool. Love the colors and textures you chose to match the chair. Enjoy! Melody
Wow, that is really, really neat!! I love your idea of matching the chair to who sits there, my kids would absolutely think that is the neatest thing! I'll have to be on lookout for some chairs now. But I am gonna have to forgo the hooked rug part... maybe one of these years.
