Small Quilts Finished

I have three small quilts to share today. The first is called Mountain Trail and it was a QAL headed by Lori of Humble Quilts. It went together pretty quickly for me and I enjoyed every step the process. However - those two black logs stand out like sore thumbs to my eye - but it's too late to change it now!

I've wanted to make a spool quilt for years and years, so I finally did it after being inspired by a project in a recent issue of Primitive Quilts & Projects. I didn't use their pattern or instructions, but did it my own way. The blocks measure 3" square.

And here is a scrappy little one I made using lots of half square triangles. These blocks are 2" square.

I have another small quilt pieced and sandwiched, but haven't been able to get it quilted yet, so I hope to share that with you soon.

Yesterday I took a break from my own projects and helped DD#2 make a dragon costume for her little guy to wear on Halloween - it was fun to do and he looks so dang dute in it! Hope I can get some pictures of him to share later.

All three little quilts are fabulous! I didn't notice the black logs until you mentioned it. Like how you did the border on only two sides.

Gayle, just found your blog through Maureen! Absolutely adore your little quilts!!! I, too, did Mountain Trail, but have been waiting to quilt it - did you machine or hand quilt yours (I couldn't tell for sure from the photo) But I love the simplicity of it!! I have a ton of left over triangles - so your little HST quilt has inspired me!!

Looking forward to "getting to know you better"!!

Blessings

Gayle, all your quilts looks great. It would take me for ever to quilt them by hand. I've never tried quilting with the sewing machine yet. Maybe when I retire I'd like to try it on a very small doll quilt perhaps.
Have a great weekend.

Oh, Gayle, I love them all! Mountain Trail looks great! I hadn't noticed the black, either, until you mentioned it.
I've never made a spool block--this is so cute.
And I may have to try your HST creation--I've got a bunch of them that need a home.
Wonderful work!

I love your three little quilts too! And the black strips aren't even noticable - I had to look again after you talked about them. No worries.
The half square triangles one is my favorite one. Love, love, love half square triangle quilts.

I like them little quilts too. I just finished a big top of the little triangles quilt. Was thinking of doing a mini spools too. I have wall space to fill with a gallery of minis.
If you want to disguise those black strips a bit you could always scribble over it with a light colored pencil. It works fine for a mini. I've colored over tooo much white in fabric. It works great.
