Hats!

This morning I'm heading to an event hosted by our Rug Hooking Guild that they're calling HOOKOWEEN. I'm not much of a Halloween fan, but everyone is encouraged to wear a hat of some sort (witch preferably), so to make it more fun for me I decided to participate in the hat competition. I bought a hat at the Dollar Tree and embellished it by making a ruffle and flower out of newspaper. Then I added words by cutting letters out of the paper also and spelling out Spooky, Eek!, and Boo. Found a black spider and VOILA! Here's what I'm wearing today for a grand total cost of $1.35! It will be fun to see what the other ladies come up with.

It's a potluck lunch, so for my contribution I made some witch hats using Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies and some Hershey Kisses attached with orange icing - Yum!

I'll post about the day's activities as soon as I can. There will be a rug display showing fall & Halloween themed rugs, so that will be fun to see!

Love you hat, Gayle. So clever!
I've never been a fan of the spooky side of Halloween. Years ago I decided all Halloween decor at my house would be pumpkins, and scarecrows. No ghosts, mummies, vampires, etc., etc. So I guess it is maybe more harvest themed than Halloween, but I use the orange/green/black colors for Oct., whereas I switch to more "Fall" colors for November. May seem silly to some, but that is where I am comfortable.

Gayle, I think that your Hookaween hat is adorable and I like that you spent very little money for it. It looks like a friendly witch hat. Have fun at your Hookaween hook-in weekend.

Oops, I'm always too much in a hurry to push publish and I almost forgot about the little witch hat cookies. They look yummy and perfect for the occasion.

Oh my GOSH! This is just darling! And what a bargain ... especially since the going rate for diva witch hats is $20-$40!! Great job -- I've no doubt you'll be the belle of the ball!! :)

Sounds like a fun time. I went to a all day sew-in where we were to dress as witches. I made a getup that I thought was a contender. Mine was nothing compared to the lengths that some went to. Some people have WAAYYY too much time on their hands! LOL Can't wait to see pictures.
