It was so fun over the weekend to read blog entries from well known quilt designers who  were here in Utah for the International Quilt Market - they said really nice things about the beauty of our state, and about Salt Lake City and the mountains behind it that set it off so wonderfully. Living here I sometimes forget that people come from all over the world to see the sights that are practically in my back yard.

I'm way overdue for posting pictures from my rug hooking meeting a couple weeks ago, so without further adieu, here they are.

Sharon hooked up this antique rug design, and added the little mouse in the corner to put her own special touch on it. I'm always amazed at how the colors she uses in her rugs makes them look like instant antiques - beautiful!

Sandy made this cute little round sheep pad.

Marliss is pleased with how her floral rug looks now that she's switched the background from a light to a dark wool.

Kim's very first project is coming along nicely.  The vibrant colors of her hollyhocks are so pretty!

Jeanette got the whole border on her rug hooked, and made huge progress in getting the background in.

Victoria has hooked most of the animal motifs on her rug in a dark color and is planning on hooking the background in a red wool, which will be a great contrast.

Cindy finished her rabbit rug and I feel so badly that my photo of it doesn't do it justice because the flash didn't work or something on my camera. She was disappointed that she didn't have enough of the same white wool to hook the rabbit in it's entirety and she had to use a couple different pieces for it. I think that it made the rabbit MUCH more interesting to look at with the slight variations in color.

Marilyn brought a doll and a rabbit that she had made and they're just adorable!

Thanks so much for sharing, Gayle - it's so inspiring to see other's works in progress - and their actual progress. Makes me want to get hooking (and I need that push!) I ADORE Cindy's rabbit rug...I agree completely - the different wools make the rabbit! LOVE it! Have a great week! Smiles & Hugs, Robin

I really appreciate all the pictures of rugs in progress. I miss my rug! I've been so overwhelmed with job interviews and house sales that I haven't hooked since the hook-in! At least I'm living vicariously through all these great blogs!
Hugs,
Courtney

Thanks for sharing! I love the cat rug. It looks so old and that rabbit rug is pretty cool, too.
Hugs :)

I totally agree with you and other comments that the rabbit is wonderful with the mixed wools. That is exactly the kind of thing that happened to rug hookers and quilters a long long time ago. They couldn't just run over to the fabric store or to their rug hooking source to get more of a fabric or wool when they ran out! It is so much fun to see what others are working on - so creative!! Thanks for posting. Amy

I always like seeing what you have posted from rug hooking. Last night we hooked and I got almost 1/2 of my "binding" done on my sheep rug--you'll see it next week.
I got to be a guardian at the quilt show in connection with the International quilt festival. FUN, inspiring!!!
Cindy has made some rug hook trading cards--they are precious.

Did you know she gave me that rabbit rug you showed? I cried and I'm not a cryer. I couldn't believe she would put that much time in it and give it to me!! I LOVE it. She is happy she did the two colors on the rabbit too.
Thanks for sharing. I'll tell Cindy to hop over here and read the comments on her rabbit rug--she will be pleased.

Hi Gayle, we just got a comment to enter you in the giveaway - but it ended in April. You are the second one today to leave a message there - is blogger messing with us again?

Hi Gayle. Thanks to everyones comments on my rabbit rug. I do like the two colors. If I'd been uphappy I'd have undone it. It's much better this way.
Thanks for all your support.
I gave the rabbit rug to my mom for Mothers Day and she is over the moon.
