Sewing Room Tour

A couple weeks ago I spent a delightful Saturday touring about twelve homes all decked out for Christmas. It's organized as a fund raiser for a local service group and has been going on over 30 years from what I understand. A couple of the houses were duds, most were wonderful, but there was one in particular that captured my interest because the homeowner was a quilter - yay! I wish she had been home that day so I could have met her, but sadly she was no where to be found. Her taste and mine are identical and I could just move right into her house without changing a thing. One of my favorite places was her sewing room, so I'm sharing some photos of it here.

                                                                 Her cutting table.

Cute pincushion display in the window sill.

A shelf full of fun knick knacks.

Her fabric stash was stored in these neatly labeled boxes.

And she had various quilts scattered around the entire house to make it warm and welcoming. My favorite kind of home.

This little needle felted Nativity was so adorable.

Her name was printed on my ticket, so I tried to find her on Facebook with no luck. Guess I would turn into a scary stalker lady if I tried tracking her down any further, so I guess we'll never get to meet each other - sigh...... Hope you enjoyed seeing her sewing space!

Wow, her home is in perfect display mode.
We have Christmas decorated home tours to raise money for charity but I never went on any of these tours because of work...
Thanks for sharing.
merry Christmas.
Hugs,

What a wonderful home! I can see why you love it.
How about a handwritten note telling her how much you loved her home, that you are a quilter, too, with similar taste. Also give her your blog address. You just never know what response you may get, but it's worth a try.
Merry, merry Christmas.
Hugs :)

Thank you for sharing your tour of this home with us, Gayle. How beautiful. I can see what you mean about your styles being alike.

I think I would be a little more bold than you. Since you have her name and her address, it seems to me that it would be courteous to send her a thank you for participating in the open house tours and compliment her home. And maybe suggest that you two could meet. But then, I may be overly bold sometimes.

Thanks again. Hers is a house of beauty!

Beautiful home and quilts and handmaids--I think she would enjoy being invited to one of the quilting bees

I have been on many of these tours around the holidays. Looks like you happened upon a gem ! I hope you have the chance to make contact with this fellow quilter. She might be very flattered. Maybe you could share with her some of the sewing groups you belong to.

Awesome sewing room. I would have loved to see the entire house.

Just a suggestion, Gayle but why not knock on her door and suggest you go for a coffee? I'd be flattered if someone did that to me after visiting my home. All she can say is, "No", but somehow, I doubt it. And you can always bring her a fat quarter as an ice breaker! *wink*

What fun to see a quilters house on the tour. Everything looks so neat and organized! It would be nice if you could meet her. Who ever set up the tour should be able to put you in contact with her.

Oh my how pretty and orderly. Sure isn't what my sewing room looks like, lol. After Christmas perhaps I should visit this blog post again and prod me to tidy up my sewing room.

Lovely pictures with lots of inspiration maybe a friend or even herself will come upon your blog and she can see how you appreciated her home.

I'd be tempted to write a notecard and let her know how much you love her space and creativity.

This sewing room is amazing. I can only wish mine were that clean and organized. I agree with Lauren that you should send her a note. She will be thrilled that you connected with her and you may turn out to be great friends. The worst thing that can happen is that you make her day with a nice card. It's a win win.

how wonderful you found this woman in your vicinity - too bad she is
remains "unknown" to you. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and much happiness and health in the new year ! Mel

Wow, what an amazing home,no wonder you loved it.
I love the file boxes, how neat!
Honestly I love it all.

Perhaps a thank you note sent to her home, and inviting her to see your blog?
Tell her how much you loved her work, and that all of us did too.
If nothing else, perhaps you'll get to go there next year, and she'll have lots of new projects on display.

Wow! What amazing comments! I'm the undercover girl who was absent in my own space the day of the home show! How fun it is to see Gayle's photos of my home, quilts and sewing room! Please know that a "home tour" is just that! My spaces are usually cluttered with projects, layered with dust, fabric scraps and threads everywhere! Being asked to participate in the tour was actually inspiring and urged me to finish up some projects and "clean up" a bit, actually a lot! I was more prepared this Christmas than ever before! Most years I'm finishing up projects to the end! Gayle is wonderful!! She did just what you all suggested, sent me a wonderful note, we emailed and set up a plan to meet over lunch last week! It was awesome!! She is amazingly talented, I loved her instantly and I appreciated so very much her reaching out in friendship!! Quilters do share a common thread--we are all Kindred Spirits! :)
