Prep Work

I've spent several hours over the last few days, preparing fabric pieces to make appliques for a quilt. There is SO much prep work - once I start sewing I think it will go together quickly and then I know it will all have been worth the effort.

I started this Kim Diehl design years ago and gave up on it - but I've pulled it back out again and I'm determined that I will at least get the top pieced!

I had lunch with hubby yesterday. As I was walking down the hall of the courthouse where he works, I came across this bit of wall art that caught my attention - a quilt - covered in buttons. It really wasn't made very well - no batting - no precision piecing - and all the buttons were adhered with hot glue. But it added a bit of color to the hallway and that's always nice, huh?

I wonder what the inspiration was for that piece with all the buttons?
It looks like you are going to have a nice appliqued quilt when all is said and done.

I don't know what your applique design is but I certainly like the fabrics.

The prep work, on any project, is the worst part, I think. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Good luck on finishing the design. The button quilt is certainly interesting. -Steph-

Oh my, girl that looks like tons of work, lol. But I love the fabric colors and designs that you're using. Best wishes on it!

That's certainly an interesting piece of wall art. I hate to say it but it reminds me of the gum tree at children's camp. Yes, they let kids stick their chewed gum on a tree to "decorate" the tree. This piece looks to me like people just stick pins/tacks into it when they walk by, lol.

Your finished square rug looks great sitting on the table with the wooden bowl, love it! Congrats on the win, cute spoon necklace!

Have a terrific week~
