What Was I Thinking?

All over blogland, talented people are sharing photos of their beautiful homes all decked out with Christmas finery - but not me! For some dumb reason, we decided to get new carpet about a week ago and the house is in terrible disaray. We're making a bit of progress at getting things put back together, but it's slow going since we're thinning collections and weeding out old clothes and other stuff - what a huge job! Anyway, I've had emails from a couple of concerned folks who were worried about me since I hadn't posted lately, so I'm sharing these disgraceful pictures to show you what I've been doing. Hope to be back to normal soon!

We wind up remodeling during the holidays because that's when Dear Hubby (the teacher) has the time....unfortunately. I know just how you feel!

Been there, done that. Holiday remodeling takes precedence over holiday decorating anytime!

Good to hear from you - even under these circumstances....but think of how wonderful it's going to be when it's done!! I'm not decorated, etc. either - and haven't done a stitch of shopping or baking - and I haven't even got an excuse!! Hope it goes smoothly! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

It will be worth it when all gets finished though.
I love the feel and the fresh smell of new flooring. :)
I understand about the headache of remolding, we have been working on things for almost a year now. I am starting to think we will never get finished.
The problem with us we have started too many at once. Shouldve started only one, instead of having multiple parts all tore up.
Luckily most of it is in the basement and the upstairs, so I still have my main area to play with.
The only 1/2 done project on the main floor is the staircase.
:)
Hugs,
Tam

Good to hear from you. It will be wonderful when it's all done and things have been weeded out! Everything just takes so much time!

Nothing like a good reno to throw the house into disarray! You need the Christmas extension I was asking for on my blog!! You'll have to do a nice winter light thing right after the holidays when the place is back to normal!

Oh honey chile, I feel sorry for you. The holiday season is stressful enough and now carpet and everything piled into another room and you can't get to it?

But just think how beautiful it will be when it is done. You can sit back and relax on Christmas day, and get ready to welcome in the new year with a new house smell.

You are a brave woman, Gayle...but it will be worth it when all is back in order and you have great new carpet, to boot!!!

I will still be waiting for Christmas pix :)

I always thought it kind of Homeowner's Rule to always attempt a reno before Christmas. Just think how beautiful it will look!

You do have a big pile of stuff there. It will all sort out before long and you will be back in the spirit of the holiday.

OM.... that is one reason I have put off new carpet other then the fact that I just can't afford it, I just wouldn't have any place to move all my stuff. Just think how wonderful it will be when it is done. I do envy you in that since. Well, Merry Christmas from our home to yours. Have a wonderful holiday season after the carpeting is down. Hehe

Sorry. I know you would rather do ANYTHING else right now. You know you will be pleased with the result. Sorting and sifting is wonderful. I do spring cleaning two times a year eventhough hubby does not like it. I feel lighter each time. He feels like his pockets have been picked. HA!

Just think how beautiful 2012 will be. And somehow, you will miraculously pull it all together in time anyway. Plus, the people who love you won't care one little bit!! Enjoy the holidays.

Oh my! I had to laugh when I saw that last picture... been there and done that and we weren't even getting new carpet! I tend to make a mess like that when I get in my deep cleaning mode. I'm sure it's all worth it by now though. Enjoy the new look!

I did the same thing with the carpet...what a disaster to do that right before Christmas. Glad to hear that there are other crazies out there like me!
Happy New Year.
