Sunglasses

I'm making a new queen sized quilt for DD#1 and her hubby. She chose the design and the colors. As you can see, her colors are far different than what I normally use in my projects and there are times I thought I needed to wear my sunglasses while working on this! LOL

Each block is made with four of these foundation pieced triangles.

Since I didn't have any of these colors in my fabric stash, it was a lot of fun buying bits of this and that so it would turn out scrappy like she wanted.

I've made 35 blocks and now I need to get them all stitched together - add a border - and take it to the quilter.

Wow! That quilt is awesome...so colorful! You're right, not terribly prim, but she'll have fun with it for sure!
Nice job!

Awesome quilt, Gayle!! So bright and cheery....not exactly my colors (I like my muddies), but the design is wonderful! She should be tickled to pieces with it! (How was vacation???) Have a wonderful weekend! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

You are right. Sunglasses needed. It is wonderful and if that is what DD wanted, all the better.

Yep...that one would definitely be outside of my comfort zone. I know how that works though...my daughter's favorite colors are orange and pink - the brighter the better! It looks great though, and I have to admit that I actually like it! (that is a huge admission for a Civil War repro lover!)

Gorgeous quilt! Bright and cheery. How'd the vacation go? We are pulling our 5th wheel to Nauvoo this fall. Never taken it so far away. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Is Mt Rushmore on the way? I'll have to google that. Come over and sit on my new patio anytime. I'll make some lemonade. Mimi

Hey, Utah girl, just jumped over here after you showed up as a follower on my blog. Nice to find an in-state blogger. Are you going to quilt fest in Sept.?
I love the spider web quilt pattern, but you would be hard pressed to find your daughter's color choices in my stash, either. When my daughters and I go to fabric stores together they head for the bright and modern fabrics and I search out the "dark and dirty".
I've read back through a few of your posts. Enjoy your blog--I'm a follower now.

Those colors are a bit bright for me too but they turned out to make for a beautiful quilt! I'm sure they will love it!
