Things I Did

I have finally finished hooking and binding and blocking my small wreath rug and I sure like the way it turned out.  The design was taken from a quilt book where each block was a different wreath. The background wool I used seems to get a lot of comments - even from those who don't hook. I used a thrift store skirt in a light color with a small plaid using tan & grey/blue threads.




 I have gotten a good start on a Kim Diehl quilt pattern that I've wanted to make for a long time. The blocks are all finished and are ready to be sewn together now. I imagine that hand appliqueing the wool leaf shapes around the border will take me longer than the piecing did.

 Just finished this book and really enjoyed it. This is the author's first published story so I'll have to keep an eye open for any more that she writes.

    I like the wreath pattern, turned out great. I still have yet to make anything, just can't seem to get in the mood for it.

    I can see why you are getting a lot of comments on the back ground wool. It's so perfect for this wreath design! Very nice! Looking forward to the Kim D quilt... I recognize some of those fabrics in your blocks... you have great taste!

    Your little wreath rug is so pretty! Love the design and the colors. Your cut-out wool leaves are gorgeous too. Will be looking forward to seeing that project progress.:)

    LOVE your rug! Each time you show one, I feel such rug envy! Your background wool was a very good choice, sure beats wearing it as a skirt! I just downloaded that book to my Kindle - looking forward to reading it.

    The rug is divine, just love the fact it is a quilt pattern! There is nothing better then a scrappy nine patch, so looking forward to more updates on this quilt.

    Your wreath rug is really neat - I also like the backround and how fun to know it was "found" wool. I missed the previous post but loved seeing all the photos of the quilts you liked from the show. Glad you are keeping up with the Pam Buda BOM - Loved your hexie quilt too. Cheers Mel

    Stunning little rug, Gayle! That skirt created beautiful texture for the background. Excellent work!
    Can't wait to see the Kim. D. quilt come together. I really like her stuff and have one of her patterns on my short list right now.

    I find it oh so interesting how the plaid works up in the background. I am still planning on trying rug hooking. There are just so many quilt projects in the way before that.
