Puzzle Ball

I finished sewing the puzzle ball together yesterday. Maggie B seemed to think these were sewing related, but I've always thought they were baby toys - does anyone out there know for sure? Anyway, I'm glad to have it done and move on to the next project.

  1. I love it! It's on my very long list of "to do!" I have no idea about the history of puzzle balls... will have to research!

  2. I know nothing about puzzle balls, either, but it looks like it could work as either a baby toy or a pin cushion. I just look at it and think, "Who figures out these things?"
You did a good job of it. I don't think I would be able to wrap my brain around it. : )

  4. I don't know but it's very cute! If I had that laying around in my house though, my sons would be playing with it.:)

  5. I first saw puzzle balls as a child in Kentucky. Women there made and sold them as a child's toy. I learned to make them over 35 years ago and still make them.
I was amazed when they reappeared now as sewing/pincushions.
I have some Victorian sewing books from my great grandmother in which they were made as a pincushion oddity.
Once you make one - you will want to make more! They are a lot of fun.

  6. I have only seen them made in bright colours for a child. But I guess a pin cushion is an option!
