Only Rugs Today

I haven't been doing much sewing lately, but I have been doing prep work for a new baby quilt - I bought the fabric I need and I made up a test block and I have cut the pieces. Will show pictures when there is actually something to see. So today I will share the projects that my rug hooking friends were working on at our last meeting. Coralee is making a fun purse/tote that is a Sharon Smith design with fun bright colors and whimsical houses.

Kim is making some 'draft dodgers' that are long and skinny pillows - she'll put them on the window sills of three windows in her home that always seem to have a breeze blowing through. This first one just has some lovely trees and she is planning to leave the background unhooked. The red and blue fabric is sewn on just to make the linen fit in her frame.

Victoria is hooking a trick or treating dog with moon that Tonia has on her website.

Sandy is working on a Maggie B bee skep - I love the bright greens in this and the dark background is going to make the colors really pop!

I'm actually making progress on this big rug I've been working on forEVER it seems!

OOPS - I lied! This picture below isn't a hooked rug. Miss Stacy of Buttermilk Basin had a blog hop recently and provided this cute design for free to her readers. It is supposed to be done with wool applique, but I switched it up a bit and did it with my needle punch supplies. Haven't quite decided how to finish it up yet.

And finally, I wanted to pick your brains about Pinterest. I used to love it and now it annoys the heck out of me with all the promoted and recommended pins that pop up on my feed. Does anyone else have a problem with this? Don't understand why they're trying to ruin such a good thing! Argh!

  1. I agree! I don't mind them sending me wool related things, rugs, wool applique, punch needle. But, why do I get food, home decorating, jewelry etc. If I was interested then I'd go to those boards. I have better things to do with my time, like hook a rug or make a quilt, or a wool table mat, or punch a design. Wish they would leave me alone.

  2. I agree ! I can handle the decorating and even the food, but half naked women, really. why does seduction and sex have to be everywhere. I have tried to find away to block it , with no luck!

  3. Some really nice projects. I love your rug project--beautiful!
Your needle punch version of Stacy's design is wonderful. The way you put the texture in the background gives it great depth!
I don't use my pinterest feed at all. I'm not a board follower. I pin things I want to keep note of and that is IT, so I don't see any of that other stuff. If I did, I might have to quit using it. : )

  4. Love seeing all the rugs, thank you! Have stopped using Pinterest with any regularity, so haven't noticed any issues, but I did notice this morning that the ad's down the side of my email were for ladies with incontinence - geez give us a break with the marketing!

  5. Love your runner and your hooking is superb!!! The other projects were cute and what a novel idea to hook a Halloween clad dog.

I do visit Pinterest but don't have a 'feed' type thing on my blog nor have I subscribed to newsletters or whatever they may have. However, I did click on a link today and my computer's virus protection popped up a huge RED Blocked Intrusion sign.

  6. First of all, your rug is looking gorgeous and secondly, the rug gals are all working on fantastic projects. I like your adaptation of Stacey's design. And yes, Pinterest is being somewhat annoying with all their added promotion pins. Boo!

I still have not succumbed to Pinterest as much as I want to. There are just not enough hours in the day...sigh.

  9. Your rug is gorgeous and I love the colors your friend used with the bee one.
I never subscribed to Pinterest although I visit or rare occasion. Just don't have enough spare time to even hook these days let alone follow pinterest.

This morning Bloglovin is announcing that they are adding some more features like blogs that we might find interesting plus seeing what our blog followers are reading etc, etc. However if we don't like change we can op out and use the old Bloglovin.

I get irritated when they make chnge like those. They can make the app available and leave it at that.

    Enjoy your summer days Gayle.
    Hugs,
    JB

  10. What delicious eye candy you shared with us! Thankfully I hadn't been bitten too badly by the Pinterest bug, but I do go every once in a while and the last time I didn't stick around too long as those "promos" were too obnoxious. Ugh.
