The monk's cloth will stretch and the linen too, if it is the soft kind. The rug warp will hold its shape and give you a good solid foundation.

BTW, your design and colours are awesome!!!Wendie Scott Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00422462454689323029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-24170358193302091902011-01-13T12:35:14.306-07:002011-01-13T12:35:14.306-07:00I've hooked 4 footstools and my hands down rec...I've hooked 4 footstools and my hands down recommendation is rug warp. You can get a good one at Dorr Mill store or on my website, cindigayrughooking.com I have kittens and even their stretching and scratching does not pull out the loops. You can flip a rug over for repair, a footstool is another story.

You can see one of my footstools here.Cindi Gayhttp://cindigayrughooking.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-36910766454748963822011-01-13T11:48:58.829-07:002011-01-13T11:48:58.829-07:00Hi Gayle,

I am a huge fan of Craigslist. Although, this is not where I found my table for my sewing room, I have found many great things there. Try it. Good luck with that, and i WILL be back!!!!Krishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15578853096888320012noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-2360914400648344522011-01-13T11:19:59.889-07:002011-01-13T11:19:59.889-07:00That is going to be gorgeous! I have the pattern drawn on my linen burlap and my wool chosen but she has the cutter so I can't start until then!!

I am in touch with Kathy. Her email stayed the same. She is not prim anymore at all - more chabby but she has her old furniture and added new accessories and it is gorgeous!Linda - Behind My Red Doorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14440663909785788611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-29083248007700463102011-01-12T10:27:27.201-07:002011-01-12T10:27:27.201-07:00I can't wait to see that when you are done Gay...I can't wait to see that when you are done Gayle! I know it's not one of your choices - sorry - but it really does pull together the best for a 'seamless' seam. My 2nd pick would be for a linen, but not the MM soft linen -- a little too soft. Ideally IMHO you want a backing that is firm enough to not stretch too much, but with just a little bit of elasticity. Sometimes linen stretches out, and then doesn't spring back....and when you are sewing the seams together, you need it to be tight - and stay tight, even with pulling and tugging. Hope this is helpful and not just confusing....
Good luck! I can't wait to see it progress.... :-DJen Manuellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17679700591869514347noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-22646473289201663622011-01-11T16:36:13.486-07:002011-01-11T16:36:13.486-07:00My vote is for linen, as it doesn't stretch so...My vote is for linen, as it doesn't stretch so much, is very durable and should be better to manhandle into fitting your stool.maureenmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14465490219165383769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-43331297420647289402011-01-11T16:17:35.008-07:002011-01-11T16:17:35.008-07:00I'm no help but I wanted to tell you that your...I'm no help but I wanted to tell you that your fabric colors are very pretty!Chocolates4Breakfast (Terri Malinovich)https://www.blogger.com/profile/13707920827509725199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811993821247340964.post-2081336162370843382011-01-11T14:15:14.960-07:002011-01-11T14:15:14.960-07:00it's going to be beautiful! Either the burlap linen or the other linen should be fine.
